TTSOpen or the Azure API?

Use this page when you want to create speech without setting up an integration. Choose from our available Azure voices, preview samples, and generate audio. This editor accepts plain text; it does not offer SSML or emotion controls.

For developers integrating Microsoft Azure text to speech into an application, consult the official API documentation for voice availability, SSML support, and setup. Microsoft Azure usage and billing are separate from TTSOpen’s free allowance and character packs.

Azure text-to-speech questions

What is Azure TTS?

Azure text to speech is Microsoft’s speech synthesis technology. TTSOpen gives you an online editor for the Azure voices available in this tool: enter text, choose a voice, and generate audio.

Can I try Azure TTS for free?

You can start with TTSOpen’s free character allowance. The editor shows your current limit. This allowance belongs to TTSOpen and is separate from Microsoft Azure API plans and billing.

Do I need an Azure account or API key?

No. TTSOpen handles the connection to Azure for this online generator. You do not need to create an Azure resource, supply a key, or write code.

Can I download generated audio?

You can listen to generated audio in your browser. Download access depends on your account and may require a character pack. Check pricing before generating a longer script.

Which voices and languages are available?

The selector lists the voices currently available on TTSOpen, including English voices from several regions and a Chinese voice. This is a selected catalog, not the full Azure voice library. Choose a voice that matches your text and listen to a short test first.

Does this editor support SSML or emotion controls?

This editor accepts plain text and offers voice selection. It does not expose an SSML editor, emotion controls, or adjustable speaking rate. Developers needing those controls should consult Microsoft’s documentation for the exact voice and API they plan to use.

Is this an official Microsoft tool?

No. TTSOpen is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft. Azure and Microsoft are trademarks of their respective owners.
